Granada Mk2 V12

To be honest, the Mk2 Granada has never been one of my favorites – I’ve always preferred the Ford Granada Mk1. Yes, I do love cars with straight lines, but the Mk2 Granadas’ design is a little bit too dull. Nothing that couldn’t be fixed by altering a few pixels, hehe. The front grille is from an Escort RS2000, the bumpers are from a Jaguar XJ-S. Why did I do that? Well, quite easy to explain, actually: I had the Granada and XJ-S pictures next to each other on my desktop. By chance! Inspiration struck and a couple of minutes later the idea had been transformed into what you see here…

Is it possible whoever owns it to let me know about the minilite wheels and what lowering kit he used as I have a 1985 mk2 ghia X and would very much like to lower mine but not sure if I need to change shocks and springs are just the springs. I have found coil spring companies but have no idea what the measurements are into relation to the car in the first Granada picture and also I would like to know what size wheels and tyres they are into helping me to know how much I need to lower it. Hope this reaches a Granada enthusiast, Kind regards Malcolm.

      Hi Malcolm,

I lowered my Mk2 2,8 Injection Granada back in 1992 and I believe I dropped it 40 mm. I stayed with the original shocks all be I did but new stock ones when I installed the springs. My old girl handled amazing up until I stored her 12 years ago when I moved to another country. I actually just found out my friend who stored my car moved it out into the Scottish weather beaten fields 5 years ago and now she is in terrible state. But as I am planning moving home in 2017 I am going to spend an insane amount money and make it a one of a kind Mk2 show winning dream car. BUT it will not be the kind of show winner I trailer around, instead i’ll still thrash the balls of it like I have done since I bought it 27yrs ago. I’m insane to maybe spend 20-40 grand on totally restoring and modernizing. Well NO not really I could spend that on a new car but still have nothing like my old girl. The only one thing I will advise when it comes to lowering it, is that the exhausts are extremely close to the tar, so pot holes and ramps hurt a lot. I’m planning on having a custom full skid plate made to protect the under carriage when I ready to roll out after completion.
I know I am late to the party as far as your posted question, but I hope it does help some. Granny lovers rule!

    Hello Malcom,

sorry to disappoint you – but the picture is only a photoshop modified version of the car you see below. As per lowering and wheels, you might want to tap into the Australian scene. The early Ford Falcons are based on the Granada, IIRC.

    Best regards
    Sebastian
